Apple’s new Advanced Data Protection (ADP), wow! It’s supposed to be a game changer, right? End-to-end encryption for iCloud. Sounds great, but…
Data breaches are a nightmare. Seriously, a huge problem. The numbers are scary. They tripled since 2013! A billion records exposed in 2021 alone. Yikes! That’s why ADP is kinda important.
ADP uses end-to-end encryption. Only your device can unlock it. Even if iCloud gets hacked, your stuff’s safe. That’s the theory, anyway. It’s user-controlled too. Nice.
But here’s the kicker. The UK government, they’re not happy. They made Apple remove it! In February, 2025. Apparently, security and privacy are at odds. Go figure. Apple ain’t sayin’ much. They’re keeping quiet. I’m kinda worried.
Enhanced security? Check. Protection against breaches? Supposedly. User choice? Well, was. Now it’s gone in the UK. That’s a bummer. A real shame, actually.
The whole thing is a mess. A real mess. Balancing security and privacy is tough. It’s a constant struggle. We need more transparency. Much more. This ADP thing? It’s a complicated issue. We’ll keep you updated. Hopefully.
