The Walmart Stock Story: A Report from the Ground

So, like, Walmart, right? Huge company. Market cap over $400 billion, it’s, like, everywhere. Seriously, a global giant. But the real question is: what’s up with their stock? Is it gonna keep climbin’? Will those analysts keep bein’ all bullish? Let’s dive into the latest stuff, shall we?

Unlocking Walmart’s Fourth-Quarter Earnings Report

Okay, so earnings reports – that’s where the real tea is spilled, you know? On Thursday, February 16th, 2023 (I think, I might be off by a day, lol), Walmart dropped their Q4 earnings. Everyone was, like, super hyped.

Analysts were predictin’ a revenue boost to around 180.2 billion, with, like,0.64 earnings per share. But here’s the thing – I found some different numbers online, so who knows what’s really going on. It’s kinda confusing.

Report Date Earnings per share Revenue
04-10-23 0.66 190.56B
08-14-2023 0.72 $180.1 B

Gathering Insider Insights – Walmart Analyst Ratings & Sentiments

So, I checked out this analyst coverage thingamajigger – it’s a website, I guess. And, man, the sentiment was all over the place! It was kinda hard to figure out what was actually going on. I mean, seriously, the numbers are all over the place.

Investors Hold Sell Buy

But then, I saw this other data – 70 investors wanted to sell! It’s like, what gives?! The analyst ratings are all, “Buy, buy, buy!”, but the actual investors are like, “Nah, I’m out.” It’s a total mess. I’m starting to get a headache.

Giant Eagle Acquisition (or whatever it was)

Okay, so on December 6th, 2021, Walmart did something. They merged their e-grocery arm – or something like that. It was under this long, confusing name, Grocery Store Management, LLC & others of parent. The whole thing is a bit of a blur, to be honest. They wanted to, like, streamline things, I guess. But basically, they’re trying to improve their online grocery game with Grocerock and Instacart. It’s complicated. I’m still trying to figure it out myself.

More stuff from the Wall Street Journal. Blah blah blah.

Investors should learn from Amazon, you know? Become the leading retail company globally! But Walmart’s got a huge market value – $400 billion, something something. They need to focus on their online presence, especially in smaller markets. Use Grocerock, maybe? I dunno. It’s all a bit much.
